How cute are these Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats?!
These quick and easy to make pumpkin-themed snacks are a fun way to welcome the season, and can be whipped together in less than 10 minutes, making them the perfect fall snack for parties, or classroom snacks.
10-Minute Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispie Treats
These Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats make a big impact without a lot of work, thanks to their Tootsie Roll stems and Fruit Roll-Up leaves. We did use some orange food coloring to complete the pumpkin effect, but you could easily dye these red for Apple Rice Krispie Treats, or even leave them plain for Cinderella’s cream-coloured pumpkin treats.
We made these for my kids’ contribution to classroom snacks, and they were so easy to make that the kids helped me with every step! My children go to a peanut-free school, so all of these ingredients adhere to that requirement.
If you wanted to transform these cuties into Jack O’Lantern Rice Krispie Treats, you could add small shapes for facial features using a red Fruit-Roll Up, or with mini chocolate chips.
Ingredients
- 6 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1-400g bag Marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 drops yellow food coloring
- 2 drops red food coloring
- 12 Tootsie Rolls
- 1 Green Fruit Roll-up
Instructions
- Pour your mini marshmallows into a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add butter, and heat in 30 second bursts until melted.
- Add in vanilla and stir until all clumps of marshmallow are smoothed out. Stir in the Rice Krispies.
- Let mixture cool a minute or two before shaping into balls with clean hands (wet your hands with water or oil slightly if the mixture keeps sticking to you).
- Insert the Tootsie rolls in the center to make stems while the mixture is still warm.
- Set on a lined baking sheet, and cut Fruit Roll-up "leaves" by hand, gently pressing each leaf onto a pumpkin.
- Refrigerate until set, at least 2 hours.
