I’m excited to work with Vaseline to spread the word about the Vaseline Healing project and winter skincare. All opinions and experiences are my own.
Winter is probably my least favorite season. I don’t know if it’s the shorter days or the colder weather, but I usually cannot wait until it is over.
To add insult to injury, my skin and hair seem to go crazy in the Winter weather. The cold, dry air leads to breakouts, frizzy hair and chapped lips. Winter skincare sometimes seems to be a fantasy. As much as I try to stay hydrated, I just can’t seem to drink enough water to combat it all.
I needed help. And it wasn’t just me! My kids were feeling the same effects, I think we used 2 whole tubs of Vaseline® this year alone. Of course, part of that is my youngest one’s obsession with the stuff. If I didn’t keep it high enough or hidden, he would take gobs of it and lather it all over his body. It was funny until I had to wash those clothes.
Finally, Something That Worked
Since our home had a mild obsession with Vaseline® as it is, I decided to try out their other products. I am in love with their other products now and will probably have to start a separate Vaseline line item in the budget just to keep it in check.
Finding a product the whole family can use, and are willing to use, is not easy. I’m talking about husband here. The kids will use whatever I put in front of them, they aren’t picky, but my spouse is another deal. He has specific preferences when it comes to texture, scent, sensitivity and if he just likes the look of it.
They are some pretty high standards, in 13 years he has only changed his lotion preference twice. With the many hours a week he puts into weight lifting, his hands get pretty rough and he needs lotion to keep the callouses from getting out of control. I am happy to report that he is now a true recruit and we’ll be keeping this product in our lives for years and years.
Specifically, we fell in love with just one of their products, Vaseline® Intensive Care™ Essential Healing Lotion, it is seriously amazing and has changed how our skin feels this winter. Now I can send my kids outside to play and not worry about their hands and faces getting chapped or dry.
I think Vaseline® Intensive Care™ Essential Healing Lotion leaves skin deeply moisturized and looking noticeably healthier.
How to Make it Easy for Your Kids to Moisturize: Bedtime Routine
Everyone who knows me knows that I like having an easy button for parenting. I know it’s not always possible to achieve in every aspect of parenting, but bath time is certainly one of them!
I like to give my guys a rundown of exactly what to expect every evening as well as make sure they have all the tools necessary to succeed. This means that I always makes sure to have the linen closet stocked with clean towels, I make sure we have plenty of baby wash / shampoo, and I tell them exactly which order to do things in.
In the winter time, we go down to an every other night bath time schedule to avoid drying out their skin. And here’s what they do (because I told them to) in a particular order. It sounds regimented, but I promise once they get this routine down pat, your life as mom will be 1000% easier!
- Play in the bath without bubbles (bubble bath contributes to dry, patchy skin)
- Wash their hair & body
- Get out & dry off
- Put on Vaseline® Essential Healing Lotion
- Brush & floss teeth while lotion dries
- Put jammies on & get in bed to read a book
I’ve found that doing things in a certain order not only makes my life easier (no more nagging! well, at least not as much lol) but also gives them a sense of accomplishment.
By making “putting on lotion” part of their routine, I’m able to ensure they trap in the moisture after bathing.
We also keep the lotion beside the sink at all times during the winter time and they know to use it at least once a day after washing their hands. This helps a LOT with keeping their hands soft (and I do it as well!)
Support a Good Cause While Supporting Your Health
Over the past few months, I had heard of The Vaseline® Healing Project, mainly through commercials, but I didn’t know anything about it or how to support it. Vaseline® supports Direct Relief through a buy one to help one promotion. So every purchase supports the cause by providing dermatological screenings to those without access to healthcare, at home and internationally. You can support worldwide healthcare just by buying what you already need, at your local stores.
Head to their website and check out what the have been doing at The Vaseline® Healing Project.
And the next time you’re at Walmart, grab a bottle of Vaseline® Essential Healing and help raise money for a much-needed cause.
