As a busy mom, exercise somehow never seems to make it to the top of my priority list…
But I realize I NEED it to be near the top, for my own health!
A few months ago I started personally challenging myself to a STEP goal. I tried to hit a certain number of steps per day and would go on two walks if I had to in order to achieve my goal.
I started with 10K steps then went to 12K and then up to 13K. But I found after a while I was super bored and unmotivated on some days because I was doing this alone. And going on enough walks to get 13,000 steps takes over an hour a day!
I needed some more action and accountability to stick to my fitness routine, so….
I started something new this month –
I asked some of my friends to participate in a challenge to close all of our Apple watch rings!
I needed some accountability and apparently so did everyone else!
There are so many days this month I wanted to not exercise, but knowing all my girls were counting on me really helped me push through.
If you need a reason to stick to your exercise plan, I highly recommend putting together a group of people who also have those same goals.
Encourage one another and share your wins / thoughts along the way.
You are stronger together than you could ever be apart!!
My Apple Watch Activity Ring Goals
I originally had my rings set to:
✅ RED RING – 700 calories burned from exercise or other physical activity (it was 800 but I just couldn’t sustain that!)
✅ GREEN RING – 30 minutes of exercise (as determined by my Apple Watch LOL)
✅ BLUE RING – Stand up at least one minute per hour, 12 hours a day
700 calories from exercise is a stretch, but doable for me every day that I actually make an effort.
I’m going for consistency here!
I Took Screenshots of Every Day for Accountability!
I shared these in the private Facebook group I created for everyone participating in the challenge.
Here are my closed activity rings so far for the month of October:
You Can Create Your Own Private Accountability Group!
I created my group on Facebook but you can really use any platform you want that allows everyone to collaborate and encourage one another.
If you want to start your own private accountability group, here’s a message you can share with the group members on day 1. Just copy and paste it and personalize it to your own exercise goals.
Hey Ladies! I created this group to give us a place to have some accountability in hitting October fitness goals.
I’m going to try to close all 3 activity rings on my Apple Watch each day. If you don’t have an Apple Watch, you can set your own goals and try to hit them.
Mine are programmed to:
✅ RED RING – 700 calories burned from exercise or other physical activity
✅ GREEN RING – 30 minutes of exercise (as determined by my Apple Watch LOL)
✅ BLUE RING – Stand up at least one minute per hour, 12 hours a day
I’ll post a new thread each week where you can post a screenshot or pic of your activity or you can just comment that you did it. No pressure – I just like to have a place to celebrate our daily wins!
I tried to do this for the past few weeks and I didn’t get there every day. This is definitely gonna force me to plan out my workouts!
