I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVE SURPRISES. Well, fun surprises at least (not finding a spider in the laundry or dog poo on the sidewalk).
So this year with all of the stress and uncertainty in the air, I decided to surprise one of our neighbors with a little Halloween fun. I gathered the kids and we went to the dollar store to get supplies.
How to Do the Boo Bucket Challenge
This challenge is a way to spread some happiness and joy. The premise is very simple, give a bucket of treats to 2 different homes and challenge them to continue the process.
It is literally 3 steps. That’s all!!
Step 1: Print out the instructions and tags
I used this cute printable boo bucket sign from Khrista at the ezeBreezy blog.
Step 2: Gather your treats and bucket
Step 3: Surprise your friends and neighbors
This cute printable has everything you need to complete the challenge.
Boo Bucket Challenge! A fun way to bring neighbors together.
The kids and I had so much fun gathering items for our Boo Bucket.
- We spent $10 on treats and candy and a bucket.
- I printed out the cute little printable linked in Step 1 above that describes What a Boo Bucket Challenge is and how to keep it going.
- Then we assembled the bucket and treats and then the fun really began.
Since the point of the challenge is that your neighbor doesn’t know who Booed them, the kids snuck around the yard, left the bucket on the neighbor’s porch, rang the doorbell, then booked it down the driveway and hid behind a truck until they saw they had found the bucket.
It was totally adorable. They felt like little ninjas!
Idea – make it a theme!
Halloween doesn’t just mean candy and monsters. You can mix things up and make it a crafting bucket and add cheesecloth, balloons and string for ghost making. Or you could add glowsticks and whistles and flashlights for a Halloween safety theme. You are really only limited by your imagination.
