Simple DIY “Bag of Cash” Money Gift (the White Elephant idea everyone loves!)

The last time I attended a Christmas party, I had to bring a WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT worth around $25 to $30. 

Instead of shopping for something unique, I decided to keep it simple and make my own with what I had on hand.

I took it back to basics and created a white elephant gift that everyone went crazy for…..a bag full of cash!! 🙂 

It was SO EASY to make….

The best part about this gift is that it’s really lightweight, so people kept passing it over for larger & heavier gift bags. 

By the time it got chosen, it was a huge surprise because it was easily one of the very best gifts of the entire party! 

I promise it will be a BIG hit! 

Putting Together a Bag of Cash Gift 

If you want to make one yourself, all you need are the following supplies that you probably have laying around your house – 

• quart size Ziploc bag
• Christmas cardstock
• stapler
• cash 
• rubber bands or string

It’s simple to assemble – 

1. Roll up the dollar bills into large cylinders & secure with rubber bands. The larger you make the rolls, the more room they will take up in the plastic bag. If you have a smaller plastic bag, then just roll the bills more tightly. 
2. Fill the bag with rolled up dollar bills. 
3. Cut out a piece of Christmas cardstock to match the length of the baggie. Make it double width so you can fold it over to create a “handle” for the gift.
4. Close the Ziploc bag and place the cardstock flush along the top so it covers the bag opening. 
5. Staple the cardstock at the bottom corners so it completely seals off the bag opening. Put a staple in the middle of the cardstock if necessary in order to make it more secure. 
6. Place the bag full of money inside of a gift bag or gift box with tissue paper. 

It makes a nice presentation!
