My family of 5 is about to have our first family photo shoot in nearly 2 years next month, and I’m a little unsure what we will actually wear. 

I used to think it was silly to see families with coordinating outfits in a portrait. But now that I have three kids, I see the beauty of it. There’s something nice about having a nice family portrait to hang on the wall where everyone looks put together. Totally opposite from everyday life! LOL

Fall Family Photo Shoot Ideas

I’m not trying to break the bank with this photo shoot, so I’d like to use some clothing we already have and perhaps buy a piece or two if necessary to make one person match the rest.

Here are some outfit ideas I came up with for our family photo shoot this fall:

Fall Photo Session Coordinating Outfit Colors – These color palettes from Micah Folsom Photography are lovely! My fave is the pinks, whites, beige, yellows, khaki option. I have a pink lace sweater that would work perfectly in this color scheme, and the girls have pink dresses galore!

Fall or Winter Family Photo Shoot Color Ideas – I love the look of these greens, blacks, and whites with the denim base in the second color palette option from Karen Beye Photography.

Clothing Colors to Wear with Fall Leaves in Background – I love love love this idea of browns and tans with a pop of red on the kids. Since I have three, I’m thinking red and orange and/or mustard yellow could make appearance and look good no matter what colors the leaves are turning when we do the photo shoot.

Coordinating Outfits in Family Pictures – Navy Blue Color Palettes

I’m really digging navy blue lately. I painted my office this color, and now I’m considering basing our entire home’s color scheme around the dark hue. My husband has a dark blue sweater he can wear, and I have a charcoal grey sweater dress that would blend perfectly.

Now to find a complimentary colors for the kids to wear. I found some navy blue color inspiration in this color palette from Angie Sandy.

Now that I’ve found four great sources of inspiration for our fall photo shoot, I think I’ll go through our closets and settle on the look that requires the least amount of clothes shopping to complete. 🙂
