This year I’m doing my best to stretch our Christmas budget. We’re focusing less on the commercial side of Christmas and spending more time with one another.

And once I get into saving mode, I’m REALLY into saving mode. This means I avoid spending money on anything and everything.

What I typically do around the holidays is pick up a few craft projects for the kids at Target – you know, like the tubs of snowman and snowflake foam stickers or Santa Claus coloring books.

This year I’m trying to get that kind of stuff for free. This means I’m getting project ideas from Pinterest and downloading the stencils and templates I need for free online.

Looking for Free Wreath Stencils or Coloring Pages & Holly Leaf Templates

I thought wreath projects would be perfect for my crew this year. My two older ones can help me make homemade wreaths to hang in our dining room windows.

And for my little guy who really can’t be trusted with glue or staples, I figured I could find a wreath coloring page for him.

My oldest loves makes garlands out of construction paper for all occasions, so I think for her I’ll find some wreath templates to cut out and string along the mantle or countertop.

Printable Christmas Wreath Patterns – Coloring Pages and Stencils to Cut Out

For the garland project, I tried to find medium-sized wreaths. I think these wreath coloring pages from oncoloring.com will do just the trick!

I also found a simple wreath stencil at freeprintable.com. My kids sometimes like to decorate their own crafts instead of starting with a predesigned image. I’ll see if they like this idea as well.

At first I thought this printable Christmas wreath template from About.com would be too difficult to cut out with all its pointy leaves, but then I realized I could just cut a large circle that encloses the entire pattern and it would look pretty good.

Printable Holly Leaf Templates

For the homemade wreaths to hang in our dining room window, I have something like this in mind:

For this craft, I am downloading my own holly leaves and printing them out on green paper. I suppose I could make it a bit easier on myself and just find a wreath coloring page with holly leaves all over it and call it a day, but I thought a textured version that requires a bit of crafting would be cooler.

• About.com offers a printable holly leaf template with berries – I think these will work just fine.
• Activity Village offers a slightly better option – lots of holly leave stencils on a single page.  Seeing as I’ll need tons of them, I think this is the better option for this wreath project.
