There are a lot of great things about the Christmas season, but one of the best things has to be the smells!
I absolutely love filling my house with things like homemade Christmas scented sachets or Christmas essential oils.
It’s taken me a while to figure it out, but this year I totally nailed it. I now know how to make my home perfectly scented. You can too!
And, P.S. – you aren’t limited just to the month of December!
My home rocks some of the scents on this list all year long. 😉
How to Make Your Home Smell Like Christmas
When you think of Christmas scents, what’s the first thing you think of? Nutmeg, apple, pine, cinnamon?
There are so many great scents out there. Here are some of my favorite ways to infuse your home with that festive Christmas smell all year long!
1) Set out Christmas scented hand soaps in bathrooms around the house
I just love when I go to the bathroom and get to wash my hands in a little bit of Christmas spirit!
Soaps that smell like pine trees, sugar cookies, and peppermint really cheer me up and get me in the festive mood.
Plus, it’s a nice touch for guests, especially paired with some festive soap pump containers. Here’s a list of 10 Christmas scented hand soaps you can get for your bathrooms.
2) Infuse your house with the scent of cinnamon
If you are wondering “how can I make my house smell like cinnamon?”…here are a few ideas for you! You could try diffusing cinnamon essential oil or burn a cinnamon-scented candle.
You could also use one of these cinnamon-scented wax melts if you don’t want to use an open flame!
3) Diffuse Christmas scented essential oils
Okay you already know my love for essential oils. But, Christmas scented ones are among my favorites!
I like this set of essential oils for Christmas a lot because there are so many scent combinations! My favorite Christmas scented essential oil blends are orange oil with cinnamon or a blend of cinnamon, lemon, and peppermint.
My favorite is essential oils that smell like a tree! So, what essential oils smell like a Christmas tree? Pine essential oil and fir essential oil, of course!
I like to use either of those (or both) as a base, then add in scents like orange, grapefruit, cinnamon or nutmeg oil.
Lastly, you could just buy a pre-made holiday scented essential oil blend as well!
4) Make some Homemade stovetop potpourri
This is another super easy way to get your home to smell like Christmas! This homemade potpourri is such an easy DIY – once you try it you’ll be hooked!
My favorite way is to set a pot of water out (a wider pot is best) and add orange peels with a few cinnamon sticks inside.
If you have cranberries, feel free to toss them in too, but I rarely have those on hand! Bring the entire thing to a boil, then simmer it all day long!
Pro Tip: Make sure to keep an eye on it and add water continually.
I also think this Christmas stovetop potpourri DIY sounds amazing, plus she created a free printable tag for it so you could totally gift it to someone too!

I like this Christmas scented candle with cinnamon in particular as well as this candle with fir.
