I would like to thank Giving Assistant for sponsoring this post!
When it comes to doing something I don’t want to do (like dieting or budgeting), I try to set simple goals to trick myself into thinking it’s actually easy.
I find that breaking a large goal into manageable bites makes the overall process less daunting.
3 Simple Things You Can Do Right Now to Save Money Today & Over the Long Term
1. Cancel a paid subscription or service you rarely use. Odds are you’re a busy person – and do you really have time to process all the input that comes into your life? Find that one thing that costs you money that you don’t get absolute happiness out of. Something you probably won’t miss when it’s gone. A magazine you never have time to read? A premium sports channel you never watch?
2. Make your next 2 meals out of things you already have in your pantry or fridge. I call it a pantry challenge. My favorite way to do this is look for the items in your fridge that are in danger of going bad before you have a chance to use them. We used to throw away all kinds of food, especially vegetables, due to poor meal planning. Not any more! In meal planning, a vegetable saved from the trash can is money earned. 🙂
3. Sign up for a cash back website. Cash back websites are like the clipless coupons of the Internet. The key to saving money with cash back websites is to have one ready to use before you need it. Before you do any shopping online, you just initiate your shopping session on the cash back website, and you’ll get a set percentage of your purchase deposited back into your account. I personally like Giving Assistant because they not only have some of the highest cash back percentages, they have an admirable mission to donate a meal to a needy family on your behalf every time you make a qualified purchase through their site. Giving Assistant has linked up as a promotional partner with thousands of online stores and as a donor to the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, Feeding America. Ya’ll know I love supporting program that donate food to needy families! If I can do that all the while saving myself money, it’s a complete win for everyone!
Can you do these three simple things today to save money? If so, you’ll be three steps closer to being a savvy saving ninja.

Hello from Thrifty Thursday! Great tips! My boyfriend and I do something similar to your pantry challenge. We pick random things from our fridge and pantry and do our own “Chopped” challenge since we are obsessed with the show. It’s super fun and you use up a lot of leftovers that might have otherwise been thrown away. Thanks for sharing!

I’m glad to hear when others already do this! Now that I know to do it, I get mad at myself if I ever have to throw a food item away. 🙂
