A decorative frame with a scalloped teal border surrounds the text "Preschool Teacher Gift Ideas" written in colorful fonts, with "Preschool" in yellow, "Teacher" in blue, "Gift" in blue, and "Ideas" in pink – a charming presentation for amazing preschool teacher gift ideas.

Update: Here's a cute free printable student survey you might like! When my oldest started preschool  years ago, I was woefully unprepared for all the little things you must do throughout the school year. I didn't know you had to sign up to bring side dishes or treats for class parties. I also didn't know that all the parents took turns bringing snacks for the class on a rotating snack schedule. And I surely didn't know I was expected to give the teachers Christmas gifts!   Preschool Teachers Get Gifts?!! In case I was every in doubt, the preschool Keep Reading

When I think of fun, old fashioned Christmas traditions, this family activitty comes to mind. I take my kids to do this every single year & I did it with my family as a child. I also going use a new idea to keep Christmas Christ centered this year. Here's an example any Christian family could do regardless of your children's ages.

Recently, I attended a workshop at church about how parents can keep Christ at the center if Christmas. A few days prior to that, I had just posted about how the approach of Thanksgiving always makes me start stressing about my Christmas to-do list. What this workshop helped me realize us that we're losing sight of the true meaning of Christmas by making it more about cookie exchanges, Christmas cards, and presents than about Jesus. I saw myself in every example the speaker gave. I'm the person who cringes at the thought of spending $150+ on Christmas photos and cards yet does it Keep Reading

A festive graphic displays "family Christmas Card inspiration" in elegant white script on a red banner against a rustic wooden background. A decorative holiday wreath with greenery, pine cones, and red berries frames the text, offering perfect Christmas card photo ideas. The website "WhatMommyDoes.com" appears at the top.

Discover amazing Christmas Card Photo Ideas to use for inspiration! If you’re anything like me, the Christmas music and decorations you see in stores well before Thanksgiving does two things: It puts me in a good mood because I love Christmas. Stresses me out because all I can think about is my TO-DO LIST! First thing on my list is usually Christmas gift shopping, although I have historically proven to be a poor planner and run around like crazy the day before Christmas trying to find the last few gifts on my list! Second thing on my list is our family's Christmas card. The Keep Reading

Winter Coat Drive - one of the warmest ideas for helping others in need! Find out how to hold one in your city!

Everyone remembers to give to charity during the holidays, but we sometimes forget that January is one REALLY COLD month. A friend of mine recently held a playdate with an awesome theme.  It was a winter coat drive for children at a local elementary school. She set up a normal park playdate (we were to all meet her at the park at 10 a.m. on a Thursday), but added the option to bring a coat or two with you that she would then pass along to her sister who is a teacher at the school. Winter Coat Drive & Playdate - Fun and Charitable If you'd like to hold a coat drive of your own, Keep Reading

One of the things I love most about being a mom is how it's opened up my heart to caring for others in ways I hadn't thought of before. Before I had children, I was sort of stuck in my own little self-obsessed world because I only had myself to worry about (and my husband, of course, but we both worked a lot and didn't really see each other all that much back then). Sad, I know.     Selfless Caring As a mom, I had to learn to selflessly care for another person. The kind of love that kids require. I'm glad I am called to do this, and I've found my children's Keep Reading

A blue infographic titled "How Does Save1 Work?" illustrates the process: 1) Use an online coupon or special offer from Save1. 2) Save1 receives a small commission. 3) Through a feeding partner, Save1 provides a meal for a hungry child.

Learn how you can use Save1 to feed a hungry child! Good friends and long-time readers of my blog know that I have a soft spot for charities that feed hungry children. I love volunteering with a local charity, Backpack Buddies, that sends home food-filled backpacks every Friday with children who might not otherwise eat over the weekend when school’s out. And you only have to take one glance at my blog to know that I’m a big fan of money-saving strategies. Sometimes I even combine those interests, such as in the post 7 Things You Don’t Need But Buy Anyway. Keep Reading

Image of a brown paper-wrapped gift with a red and white wooden star ornament, a twine bow, and a red bead. Above the gift, there is text in green and red that reads, "little ways to give during the HOLIDAYS." The bottom corner has a circular "What Mommy Does" logo.

Despite the fact that I love flowers and warm weather, I'd have to say I like the Christmas season more than the spring and summer.  More than anything, I like it because it forces my friends and family to take vacation and obligates them to visit me! haha There's nothing I like more than getting to spend quality time with my loved ones. Another reason I like the holiday season is because it reminds me of just how lucky I am and, unfortunately, how many people out there are hurting. It kicks me into giving high gear, and I love discovering new ways to help Keep Reading

Check out these easy and breakfast ideas for kids!

Check out these easy and quick breakfast ideas for busy school mornings! This year, I have two little ones in preschool and keep the baby at home with me. We do this three mornings a week. So far, my husband has taken them to school more than I have simply because it's only 1 mile out of his way to work, and preschool starts around the time that he'd normally be leaving anyway. My Time Management Issues  He's much better at getting them to school on time than I am.  For some reason, no matter what time I start, I never seem to make it there on time.  I think I'm Keep Reading

A festive scene featuring colorful balloons and a gift box adorned with curly ribbon, perfect for birthday parties for two year olds.

Should parents throw birthday parties for two year olds? Recently, on a local mom blog, a reader asked the question, "What is a good place for a two-year-old's birthday party?" I have been thinking about this, myself, recently because I have a 22-month-old who needs a celebration of some kind in two month's time.   Throwing Birthday Parties for Two-Year-Olds For my oldest, who is now four years old, we had a "real" birthday party for her in our home. We mainly invited family and friends. The majority of attendees were adults because most of our friends didn't have children Keep Reading

A woman is seen in close-up with her eyes closed and hands clasped near her face, appearing to be in deep thought or prayer. The blurred background, suggesting an outdoor setting with trees, hints at the serene life she has embraced to live on one income.

Several years ago, I transitioned from a stressful desk job to being to a stay at home mom. How our family manages live on one income is probably the thing I got asked most about when friends and family learned I wasn't going back to work after my maternity leave ended. Living Beyond Our Means: Could We Ever Live on One Income? Making the initial jump from a comfortable two-earner household without kids to a single income household with a little one was not easy.  We were used to spending our money willy nilly without any pressing responsibilities to Keep Reading
