all about me free printable worksheet - such a cute children's activity for back to school

My two oldest are so excited for school to start this year. We go to a year-round school, which starts much earlier than traditional school, so we are getting ready to go back and it's only the first week of July! This year I wanted to do something I saw so many moms do last year - give my kids a survey right before their first day of school to document their lives at this point in time. I think it will be so special to keep these and show them to my kids when they are older.   Cute Back to School Idea for Elementary Children I can't wait to see their answers to these Keep Reading

7 tips for teaching kids lessons about money - As parents, we are our kids' money teachers. Our childrens' financial literacy education is in our hands. Here are 7 ways we can start teaching "our students" about how to make money / what to do with earned money, saving money, handling gifts of money, making purchases, setting goals, and more!

But financial education isn't included in most student curriculums. Do you know if your kids know how to budget their money? If you want your children to go to college one day, or even just have a financially sound life, prepping them for a world of real household finances should be Keep Reading

Hidden Money Gift Idea - Creative Way to Give Cash to Kids, Teens, Graduates!

Today I have something super cute to share with you. It's a gift idea that would be perfect for graduation, birthday, or even Christmas. It's a simple idea but a little unexpected. Exactly my style! Hope Your Day is Filled with "Excitemint!" I used one dollar bills for this gift, but if you want to give more you could always do $5s, $10s, $20s or any combination of those. At first I just rolled up the bills and placed them in the container without the gum because it seemed kinda gross to put the gum back in with the money, but then I realized in order to make it look full I'd have to Keep Reading

A woman with brown hair lovingly touches noses with a baby who is lying down. Both dressed in white, they gaze at each other with smiling expressions, embodying the joy of becoming a mom. The softly blurred background enhances this intimate and tender moment.

When my oldest was born, my pediatrician gave us this handy Baby Milestones magnet.  I kept that magnet on our fridge throughout our oldest's first few years, then let it stay up there when my second daughter came along 2.5 years later, and left it up there yet again after my little boy arrived. We just took it down because our youngest just surpassed the last milestone on this chart (and we're done having kids). It's kind of bittersweet, you know? So I was excited to see a similar chart shared by Family Cord. Feel free to pin or otherwise share this infographic with all the new mommas in Keep Reading

It's been a few weeks since Easter, and as always we are neck deep in empty Easter eggs! Each year I try to think of something fun to do with them. The last thing I want to do is use them once then toss them in the recycling bin. Seems like such a waste! As I was brainstorming a way to use these, I remembered that I had been meaning to send our babysitter a care package at college. I want to include some money in there because I know she can use it. So here's what I came up with! Easter Egg Money Bucket - A Cute Money Gift Idea! I grabbed this cute & colorful striped bucket at Keep Reading

A colorful to-do list titled "things to do" features sections with lines and heart icons in various colors. The design includes playful fonts and vibrant pastel shades. At the bottom, it says "Free Printable DAILY TO-DO LISTS." The upper right reads "What Mommy Does," perfect for pairing with a printable summer reading list.

This summer, my middle child will start Kindergarten. I'm a bit sad (for me) and excited (for her) at the same time. Before my oldest went to Kindergarten, I made a point of starting a reading program with her. She loved it and continued what we worked on when she got to school. My next little girl was a little different - she didn't want to sit still for more than 2 minutes at a time to work on ANYTHING until recently. I was basically convinced she would be entering Kindergarten without knowing more than 5 letters. Luckily, she turned things around last month and all of a sudden LOVES Keep Reading

Exercise Routine to Do With Kids - Have fun and workout with your kids. You may lose weight too!

I don't know about you, but I don't always love to exercise at home. Especially when I'm caught up in something I love (like blogging) or perhaps it's just a dreary day and I can't find my motivation. So I came up with a fun trick to get myself up and moving. I call it the "Surprise Exercise Bucket." All I did was grab a handful of plastic spoons, and on each one I wrote down an exercise. Something tough, but doable. Something that I could see myself doing two sets of.   I tried to think of exercises that we could all do together (me and my two girls - ages 7 and 4 - Keep Reading

A book cover with a young child raising their hands and yelling. The cover reads, "The Best Parenting & Discipline Book Ever: The One You Need to Read Now Before It's Too Late," highlighting it as the best parenting book. The blog name "What Mommy Does" appears in a pink circle in the bottom left corner.

I was just on a much-needed vacation this weekend with some old friends who are running into discipline problems with their two year olds. They asked me what they should do - as a mom of three, they figured I had a few tricks up my sleeve. As it turns out, I have a simple solution for every single parent who faces a defiant child (so basically anyone who has a 2-year-old!) It's a parenting book about discipline written by Dr. James Dobson. Why This is the Best Parenting Book About Discipline Ever Written This book was recommended to me about 4 years ago by a dear church friend who saw Keep Reading
