A stack of colorful Trix cereal treats, perfect for bake sales or birthday parties, held together with marshmallow, layered with wax paper, and displayed on a dark background. The text "TRIX treats" is written beside the stack. The bottom of the image has a URL: www.whatmommydoes.com.

A close-up of a wooden clothespin on a clothesline with the text overlay: "The Simple Rule to Follow That Makes LAUNDRY Something You'll Look Forward To." The background is blurred, featuring more clothespins. At the bottom, a website URL is partially visible.

The other week I wrote about how I'm trying my best to figure out better laundry systems around this place. I finally figured out a way to consolidate some of my laundry tasks, and I wrote about that here: The 3 Basket Laundry System That Saved My Sanity Now that I have that process under control, I feel like I could make even more improvements. You see, I HATE DOING LAUNDRY. It's second only to unloading the dishwasher. I really don't like doing that. :) So for the past two weeks I've been trying to figure out how I can basically have a better attitude about doing laundry, so I thought Keep Reading

With two children in our house, we fight the good fight every winter to keep our immune systems healthy. It's so easy for those little stinkers to sneak in germs from playdates, bounce houses, and school! I like to be on top of things to keep us as healthy as possible so we can fight the bugs that come our way. Keeping our family functioning starts with keeping myself in top shape so I can take care of anyone else who ends up getting sick! Today I'm partnering with Zicam® to tell you all about how I'm adding Zicam® Total Immune products to my arsenal to keep our family Keep Reading

A woman is sitting on a couch, gently holding a thermometer and placing her hand on the forehead of a sleeping child wrapped in a white blanket. The background features potted plants and a large window letting in natural light.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nauzene Kids for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. Ever since my kids were tiny, I have been concerned with giving them remedies that are natural. It was almost out of necessity at first because I noticed most children’s medicines aren’t recommended for children under 6. Six years is a long time to wait to treat a child for something when you are sure there must be a remedy out there! I was excited when Nauzene® Kids contacted me because I have been looking for a gentle, homeopathic product like theirs for quite some time! Nauzene® Kids Keep Reading

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of HomeTeam for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. Do you have extended family that lives away? Or does your husband travel out of town? I fall into both of those categories. My kids and I are often too far away from loved ones to just pop on over to say hi. If we want my kids to see their grandparents, we have to plan an official trip to visit them, invite them down from Virginia to our home in North Carolina, or we have to take a trip together. I’m all the time getting jealous of my friends who have parents in town to help them with Keep Reading

A comparison chart titled "Baby Changing Stations." On the left, for "First Time Mom": a changing pad on a changing table. On the right, for "Mom of 2 or More Children": floor, bed, couch, bathroom floor, van, passenger seat, crib, grass—anywhere convenient.

I had it all with #1 - the perfectly set up changing pad on top of a lovely changing table we situated just right in her nursery. I had baby powder and creams within arm's reach, a Diaper Genie and trash can at arm's length. It was ideal, until we added baby #2 and baby #3 to the mix. And then things got crazy.....am I right?! This is a guest post by Tracey Clayton. Let's welcome Tracey to the blog! She did a great job on this post. :)  The arrival of a child to the family, especially the first, involves having to buy all the items that the baby needs during the first months and years of life. There definitely are a few must haves that would ensure a child’s health and comfort. It’s best to prepare everything before the baby is born and avoid more panic and rush than necessary. 25 Must-Have Baby Items & Why You Need Them #1 Crib & Mattress Crib or a cradle should be made of wood, strong and Keep Reading

A woman with brown hair lovingly touches noses with a baby who is lying down. Both dressed in white, they gaze at each other with smiling expressions, embodying the joy of becoming a mom. The softly blurred background enhances this intimate and tender moment.

When my oldest was born, my pediatrician gave us this handy Baby Milestones magnet.  I kept that magnet on our fridge throughout our oldest's first few years, then let it stay up there when my second daughter came along 2.5 years later, and left it up there yet again after my little boy arrived. We just took it down because our youngest just surpassed the last milestone on this chart (and we're done having kids). It's kind of bittersweet, you know? So I was excited to see a similar chart shared by Family Cord. Feel free to pin or otherwise share this infographic with all the new mommas in Keep Reading

Welcoming a new baby to the family is a joyous occasion. It’s a year full of celebration, milestones, and firsts. Just kidding….we probably woulda had them anyway. :) And yes, we 100% put our first born child in this tax deduction onesie! As a tax accountant, it was my solemn sworn duty! The New Baby Tax Deduction Scramble Jokes aside, newborn babies do come with tax implications. A book cover with a young child raising their hands and yelling. The cover reads, "The Best Parenting & Discipline Book Ever: The One You Need to Read Now Before It's Too Late," highlighting it as the best parenting book. The blog name "What Mommy Does" appears in a pink circle in the bottom left corner.

I was just on a much-needed vacation this weekend with some old friends who are running into discipline problems with their two year olds. They asked me what they should do - as a mom of three, they figured I had a few tricks up my sleeve. As it turns out, I have a simple solution for every single parent who faces a defiant child (so basically anyone who has a 2-year-old!) It's a parenting book about discipline written by Dr. James Dobson. Why This is the Best Parenting Book About Discipline Ever Written This book was recommended to me about 4 years ago by a dear church friend who saw Keep Reading
